Mike Ashley has pressed the self destruct button again at Newcastle United. Chris Hughton has been sacked, sparking outrage across the Magpies fan base. With Alan Pardew, Alan Shearer and Alan Curbishley all been linked to the hot seat. So many Alans but there is only one Diego, and he wants a job at a Premier League club.
The man who I think will be the next Newcastle United is Diego Armando Maradona.
Maradona will be perfect for Newcastle United, but it is reliant on the club appointing Ray Wilkins as well. The appointment of Diego will instantly spark euphoria in Newcastle. Everyone will be wearing Argentina shirts and dancing the tango in the Gollowgate End. Hughton who? A big, marketable manager is what Mike Ashley wants.
We all saw at the 2010 World Cup, with a good back room staff he can achieve results. This is why Newcastle United will need to hire Ray Wilkins as his assistant. Wilkins was surprisingly sacked at Chelsea, after being brought in to help Luiz Felipe Scolari understand English football, and he would do the exact same job at The Toon. He builds great team spirit and this could be achieved at Newcastle United, the man who inspired a nation would find inspiring a club easy.
He will also have Jonás Gutiérrez, someone he worked regularly under Maradona when he was in charge of Argentina. He will sell the club to Diego. Mike Ashley will sell him a vision and Newcastle will have a legend of the game in charge.
Maradona eats, sleeps and breathes football. He is very passionate when it comes to football, something everyone involved with Newcastle United. Some might say Maradona and Newcastle United are suited for each other.
You make it sound very logical but I really don't see this happening im afraid. He would be pure entertainment in the press room, the journo's would love him.
ReplyDeleteI must say, I agree with Colin above. I Just can't see it happening! However i wouldn't be opposed to him being our next manager, considering some of the garbage that we've been linked with.
ReplyDeleteHave heard tonight that Martin Jol has left Ajax and that his odds for becoming our next manager have been slashed. Again though I can't see it happening. No one would want to work for Ashley after the way he treated Hughton!
Knowing the Toon's luck, we'll end up with Joe Kinnear again :( And that's is us relegated I'm afraid.
