Pascal Chimbonda - The modern day footballer.

I often think what I will see first. An end of a DFS sale, or a Pascal Chimbonda testimonial. After Pascal was on the move again today i'll have to keep saving up for a full-price leather sofa.

Pascal Chimbonda is the prime example of the modern day football. Getting by on limited skill and no loyalty whatsoever. Queens Park Rangers is Pascal's 5th club since 2005.

Pascal came over to these shores as one of Paul Jewell's first signing for Wigan Athletic's first Premier League season. In this first season Pascal was a superstar in the Latics defence, a model pro. Pascal played himself into the France's 2006 World Cup squad. He was so sure of his footballing career was at the JJB (now DW) Stadium he even re-negotiated his contract to add 4 years on. His agent? Willie McKay. The problem begins.

Wigan Athletic were the last opponents at Highbury before Arsenal moved to the Emirates stadium. Wigan lost the game 4-2. As he walked off the pitch, Chimbonda handed Jewell a transfer request. It was in his boot for the whole game. After a summer of negotiation, allegation and frustration. The Pascal Chimonda train had left for it's second destination.

After the 'stepping stone' of Wigan, he rolled in gloves 'n' all to Tottenham. Where he stayed for 2 seasons, or  14 in Chimbonda years, before he had hopped onto another stone, When he was sold to Sunderland. Where he and El Hadji Diouf were 'bad eggs' and Pascal was sold on after 13 games. Destination? Spurs... Again!

After only 3 league appearances in 6 months he was on the move again. Back to Lancashire and Blackburn Rovers, and I thought he had finally settled. 29 league appearances last season, he could of been there for years and years. Alas it was not to be, out of favour and released from his contract. He has signed a 6 month contract at QPR.

Put £10 on Pascal not renewing that contract.
