Transfer deadline day

Reporters at every training ground - check
man next to massive touch screen armed with iPad - check
Yelllow ticker on screen - check

We are ready for transfer deadline day.
It's not their fault, they are only doing what the employers tell them to do. But Sky Sports News is turning transfer deadline day into a day of repetitive rumour talk and boring television. Don't get me wrong, I like talk of rumour, and even tweeted about it today, but not to the extent of what Simon Thomas, Gerogie Thompson and co. have been ALL DAY.

Since the introduction of 2 transfer windows, we have to endure the tedium of their coverage twice a season, back in the day when you refreshed the transfer page on Ceefax in the middle of march to see if there was any  late business. Not the extent of today with £100m plus being spent on 3 strikers (remember now, the spinning ball says we have 3 hours 46 minutes left, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE) it was clubs making loan deals to see them through to May, or making that spiteful purchase just because you can, Chester City under Mark Wright did this regulary.

Sky Sports News have reporters everywhere, I'm not a fan of this as many don't have anything constructive to say, especially when you go back to them 3 times an hour. But this is where David Craig excells. Craig is the 'go to' guy when it comes to North East football and his coverage and exclusives he revealed over the Andy Carroll transfer were excellent and informative, a class above anyone on that channel.

Sky are not the only culprits. the BBC have been running a live text all day, don't get me wrong it serves a purpose, but it's not like it has been transfer-after-transfer all day, so conversation got stale.

I love transfer rumour, I love hearing tales of players being spotted in service stations, boarding helicopters and taking stadium tours. But 24 hour coverage of stuff you don't see until they are revealed is too much.
