Gennaro Gattuso - Jekyll and Hyde

Gennaro Gattuso is a strange creature, how can a man with that much talent be so confrontational? On Tuesday night Gattuso managed to surpass him self by pushing away by his throat, then head butting former AC Milan player, now Tottenham Hotspur coach Joe Jordan.

This is not the first time Gennaro has landed himself in bother whilst playing in the Champions League. In 2003 playing against Ajax. The little Italian slapped Zlatan Ibrahimović in the face with the back of his hand. 2 years later in a 3-2 win over Schalke, Gattuso was seen trying to get to Christian Poulsen, to taunt the Danish midfielder over his marking of Kaká. But the head butt is a new low in his career.

head butting is something he has already done in his footballing career. In a friendly against England, Gattuso used his head as a weapon on debutant Seth Johnson. A head butt which went unpunished.

The incident with Jordan is a new low for the 33 year old. Once again Rino took things too far. The thing which has bothered me about it is that he doesn't need to. He is a quality midfielder with an impressive career record. But that's just his nature. Like Robbie Savage but with just a little more evil in him. Robbie Savage is harmless. Genaro Gattuso is not.

At AC Milan he has won 1 Serie A title, 1 Coppa Italia, 1 Supercoppa Italiana trophy 2 Champions League tites, 2 UEFA Super Cups and 1 FIFA Club World Cup. He was also part of the Italian side which won the 2006 World Cup. All this will be forgotten when he retires, as his hyde-like behaviour will overshadow his footballing ability and career achievements.
